About the tour

Our short break tour in the Dobrogea and Danube Delta touches the essential sites from the Danube Delta, having as base point the charming village of Sfantu Gheorghe.

Itinerary

Day 1

Meet and greet in Bucharest. Transfer to the area of Dobrogea, where we will visit Enisala fortress (XIVth century), the port city of Sarichioi and the slavic churches in the area. We will get delighted with a homemade fish lunch. Transfer by minivan to Murighiol and by boat to the village of Sfantu Gheorghe. In the afternoon, walking tour of Sfantu Gheorghe, to see the lighthouse, the church and the port. Dinner and local wine tasting. Accommodation in rural guesthouse in Sfantu Gheorghe.

Day 2

Breakfast and sail by boat to the Caraorman forest. We will cross channels and lakes, which are unique reserves in Europe and a sanctuary of birds. In Caraorman we will admire the dunes, we will see wild horses, we will savour a traditional fish lunch and we will visit the Caraorman church, the oldest church from the Delta. Return by boat to Sfantu Gheorghe. Spare time. Dinner and local wine tasting. Accommodation in rural guesthouse in Sfantu Gheorghe.

Day 3

Breakfast and sail by boat to Laguna Melea to admire the pelicans, the Sacalin island and the Zaton, the old collection point for the fish in the Delta. We will hear interesting stories about the history of the places we visit, and we will see water lilies and plenty of birds. Return to Sfantu Gheorghe. Fish lunch and caviar tasting. In the afternoon we will go by boat to see the exact point where the Danube spills into the sea. Dinner and local wine tasting. Accommodation in rural guesthouse in Sfantu Gheorghe.

Day 4

Breakfast and transfer by boat to Murighiol, where the minivan will wait for us. We will head on to Tulcea to visit its acuarium and in the afternoon, transfer to Bucharest. End of the tour.
