About the tour

Our Dobrogea, Danube Delta and the Black Sea tour is the ultimate experience for adventurers and nature lovers. The Danube Delta is the third highest biodiversity area in the world and an UNESCO biosphere reserve. Our tour is designed to offer a complete experience, covering accommodation and meals in locals’ houses, visits in the traditional Delta villages, birdwatching, wine tastings and nature at its best.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival. Meet and greet at the Bucharest airport. Transfer to Bucharest and panoramical tour of the city. Accommodation at 4* Hotel.

Day 2

Breakfast and transfer to Constanta, one of Romania’s main cities and the fourth greatest European port after Rotterdam, Ambers and Marsella. Walking guided tour of Constanta. We head on to Dobrogea, to visit Enisala fortress (XIVth century), the port city of Sarichioi and the slavic churches in the area. Accommodation and dinner in rural guesthouse in Enisala.

Day 3

Breakfast and transfer to Greci. Visit at the Macin National Park Visitor’s Center and 3 – 4 hs hike in the oldest mountain massif in Romania. Picnic lunch. Transfer to the Macin city and wine tasting in the Macin winery. Transfer to the village of Luncavita. Accommodation and dinner in rural guesthouse in Luncavita.

Day 4

Breakfast and transfer to Uspenia, where we will see its ancient slavic monastery, dating from the 17th century. We head on to Murighiol where a small boat we’ll be waiting for us to cross the Danube towards Sfantu Gheorghe, a small traditional village, with wild beaches and the meeting point between the Danube and the Black Sea. Lunch in the village. In the afternoon, walking tour of Sfantu Gheorghe, to see the lighthouse, the church and the port. Dinner and local wine tasting. Accommodation in rural guesthouse in Sfantu Gheorghe.

Day 5

Breakfast and sail by boat to the Caraorman forest. We will cross channels and lakes, which are unique reserves in Europe and a sanctuary of birds. In Caraorman we will admire the dunes, we will see wild horses, we will savour a traditional fish lunch and we will visit the Caraorman church, the oldest church from the Delta. Return by boat to Sfantu Gheorghe. Spare time. Dinner and local wine tasting. Accommodation in rural guesthouse in Sfantu Gheorghe.

Day 6

Breakfast and sail by boat to Laguna Melea to admire the pelicans, the Sacalin island and the Zaton, the old collection point for the fish in the Delta. We will hear interesting stories about the history of the places we visit, and we will see water lilies and plenty of birds. Return to Sfantu Gheorghe. Fish lunch and caviar tasting. In the afternoon we will go by boat to see the exact point where the Danube spills into the sea. Dinner and local wine tasting. Accommodation in rural guesthouse in Sfantu Gheorghe.

Day 7

Breakfast and sail by boat to Sulina, the only Romanian port city, with opening to both the Danube and the Black Sea. Guided walking tour of the city. We will see the water station with its intriguing history, the beautiful genovese far and the museum sheltered inside, and the only european cemetery with a pirate tomb in it.  Lunch in Sulina. Return by boat to Sfantu Gheorghe. Dinner and local wine tasting. Accommodation in rural guesthouse in Sfantu Gheorghe.

Day 8

Breakfast and transfer by boat to Murighiol, where the minibus will wait for us to take us to Bucharest. End of the tour.

  • Entrance tickets to all the monuments in the programme, the Danube Delta and the national parks.
