About the tour

If you’re keen on hiking, you should try the romanian Carpathians, a range which offers some of the best hiking experiences in Europe!

In this tour, we have combined shorter and longer hikes in the Bucegi Natural Park and The Piatra Craiului National Park, together with accommodation and discovery of a traditional mountain village.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival. Meet and greet at the Bucharest airport. Transfer to Moeciu de Sus. Accommodation and dinner.

Day 2

Breakfast and discovering a mountain village life style. Hiking trip to Bisericuta Peak, the highest point in the village of Moeciu de Sus, with 1322 m altitude. All along the hike the views over Moeciu Valley, Fundata, the Bucegi Natural Park and the Piatra Craiului National Park are stunning. Cheese tasting with local homemade cheeses. Horse drawn carriage tour of the village and visit  to Cabane aux Images, an exhibition about rural life in Romania, to the orthodox church of the village and to a traditional weaving loom, with live demonstration of use. Dinner and accommodation.

Technical features: circular route, approximate distance: 10 kmts. Total ascent: 350 m. Total descent: 343 m.

Day 3

Today´s hiking trail will cross the Bucegi Natural Park. Breakfast and transfer to the Bucegi Natural Park: Gutanu – Poiana Gutanu – Grohotis – Strunga Cross (1.909 m) – Bucsa – Bucegi Natural Park. Transfer to the accommodation. Dinner and accommodation.

Technical features: circular route, approximate distance: 15 kmts. Total ascent: 1010 m. Total descent: 1022 m.

Day 4

Breakfast and visit to the Libearty Bear Sanctuary in Zarnesti, the greatest bear reserve in Europe, where 95 bears that used to live in miserable conditions have been rescued, and live now a happy life in a natural environment. We head on to the Piatra Craiului National Park where we will cross the Zarnesti Gorges and we`ll go up hiking to the Curmatura Hut (1470 m altitude). Descent through Poiana Zanoaga. Return to Moeciu de  Sus. Dinner and accommodation.

Technical features: circular route, approximate distance: 15 kmts. Total ascent: 700 m. Total descent: 580 m.

Day 5

Breakfast and transfer to Bucharest airport.

This tour is available for a

The cost includes

  • 4 nights accommodation in a rural guesthouse in the village of Moeciu de Sus, in double room and  halfboard regime (breakfast and dinner, beverages not included); Single room supplement: + 60 € per room per stay.
  • Return private transfer to Bucharest airport and return transfers in a private vehicle to Bucegi Natural Park, Libearty Bear Sanctuary and Piatra Craiului National Park.
  • All the services of the second day and sandwiches for the hikes on the third and fourth day.
  • Entrance tickets to Bucegi Natural Park, Libearty Bear Sanctuary and Piatra Craiului National Park.
  • Bilingual guide.
