Transylvania Hiking and Sightseeing Tours

When getting to Romania, people are amazed by the great number of possibilities to hike, on any level of difficulty and in different parts of the country. The region of Transylvania is very rich in Carpathian hiking offers, historical sites, medieval cities and local culture.

We have prepared a large variety of trekking and sightseeing tours in Transylvania, ranging from one to more day tours, counting only with hiking or only with sightseeing, or combinations of both. We have included visits at the Transylvanian castles, fortresses, main medieval cities, UNESCO Heritage sites, fortified churches and traditional villages.

As for the hikes, we use the Bucegi and the Piatra Craiului National Park, both offering many possibilities, on different difficulty levels, for hiking and walking.

We use as base our mountain village, Moieciu de Sus, settled 12 km from Bran and 35 km away from Brasov, where our guests come in touch with the local culture, the homestays and the delicious home made meals cooked with local produce.

If none of our suggestions suites you, we can tailor you an offer.

Just let us know what you want and we will prepare it for you!

Points of interest and landmarks

Our tours include the most well known POI and also hidden gems of Transylvania for people ready to explore the heart of Romania.

Moieciu de sus

The village of Moieciu de Sus is situated in Brasov county, in a beautiful mountain area at the edge of the Bucegi National Park. Its settlement, the touristic areas that surround it, the raw nature and the respect of the locals for traditions make it an ideal place for rural and sustainable tourism.

Brasov

Brasov is  one of the greatest and most beautiful cities in Romania. Among its touristical attractions: the old medieval town center, the Black Church (14th century), the Council Square and Sforii Street (17th century) – one of the narrowest streets in Europe.

Bucegi Natural Park

The geographical settlement and the easy access to the marked hiking trails, makes Bucegi Mountains one of the most visited massif in Romania. The park is home to various wild animal species, such as: bears, wolves, wild cats, wild goats, wild pigs, foxes.

Piatra Craiului National Park

Piatra Craiului is one of the most beautiful mountain areas in Romania. It is under strict protection from logging and hunting and here you will find numerous hiking and biking trails.

Saxon Villages

The transylvanian Saxon villages are one of the must-see sights when visiting Romania. They cover the south – eastern part of Transylvania and seven of their fortified churches have been included on the Unesco World Heritage list.

Viscri Fortified Church

Viscri or Weisskirch is a small village, tucked into the Transylvanian hills, with one of the most beautiful and best preserved fortified churches in Transylvania. The fortified church of Viscri dates back to the 13th century.

Why visit Transylvania

There are plenty of reasons to visit this magnificent area, but the most significant ones are:

The Carpathians offer one of the best hiking possibilities in Europe

The Carpathians offer one of the best hiking possibilities in Europe

The Carpathian Mountains are never far away in Transylvania, and for anyone fond of walking, this is one of the most beautiful, least exploited regions in Europe. Hikes can last several days, but it’s perfectly feasible to make briefer, yet equally beautiful forays in the Piatra Craiului and Bucegi mountains.
The scenery is breathtakingly dramatic

The scenery is breathtakingly dramatic

Far from the madding crowd, deep into the forests, you will discover alpine meadows and peaks, caves and dense forests sheltering bears and wild boars, and lowland valleys where buffalo cool off in rivers.
Different ethnicities, cultural diversity

Different ethnicities, cultural diversity

Romanians, Hungarians, Saxons and Szeklers, nations so different from each other, managed to create here a unique world, which has largely preserved its archaic atmosphere. Transylvanian villages and cities are different from anything you might see in the rest of the country.
Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of festivals, events and celebrations
